Cedar is a time-tested material for outdoor sauna building precisely because it expands and contracts gracefully with changing weather. That said, placing your sauna on a level, well-drained surface and adding a simple roof overhang can help extend its life even further.
Most of our saunas are designed for 2 to 6 people, so think about how you realistically plan to use it — solo wind-down sessions call for something more intimate, while family gatherings benefit from a larger cabin-style model. Beyond the footprint of the unit itself, leave at least 2 to 3 feet of clearance on all sides for ventilation, safety, and easy access. A flat, stable surface — concrete pad, deck, or compacted gravel — is the best foundation.
On models equipped with Wi-Fi control, you can pre-heat your sauna remotely using a companion app, so it's ready and waiting at the temperature you want before you even step outside. As for electrical connection, most outdoor electric sauna heaters require a dedicated 240V circuit — we recommend having a licensed electrician handle that connection to ensure it's done safely and to local code. The sauna itself arrives ready for you to assemble and connect; the electrical hookup is a step you'll arrange on your end.
